Brenda Malkinson

For over twenty five years Brenda Malkinson has been inspired by the visual immediacy of drawing and painting on canvas, paper and glass. However, it is the tranformative nature of enamels and stains on glass from the kiln fire - metamorphosis, energy and light - that most directly expresses her artistic sensibilities. "Glass is the translucent canvas, space and time are no longer a fixed reality." Malkinson is in an active period of artistic growth, " I find myself focusing on different ways of depicting the idea of change, and change perhaps, is the only reality; the essence of life and light itself."

Malkinson is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art (1975) and is the recipient of numerous commissions and awards. Brenda teaches at the University of Alberta and at Series at Red Deer College.
